Sun Life makes Grey its first AOR

Grey Canada of Toronto has been named Sun Life Assurance Co of Canada's first worldwide agency of record (AOR). Grey will provide strategic and creative brand-building support to Sun Life's operations in Canada, the UK, the US, as well as its Asian operations. Formerly, Sun Life had 26 independent business units that used various agencies on a project basis. A Sun Life spokesman said Grey was chosen to provide it a consistent global brand.

Wal-Mart steps outside the big box

Wal-Mart Canada has launched new television ad series that portray how customers interact with them outside their stores. In one of the spots, created by Publicis Canada, a Brampton, Ontario resident said he has changed his mind regarding the perception that Wal-Mart takes from instead of giving to the community. Another spot tries to change teenagers' perceptions that large retailers are not places of fashion.

Ekati takes shine to Wasserman

Ekati Diamonds has chosen Wasserman and Partners Advertising Inc to handle its account, a development that will turn the agency into one of the few shops handling a non-retail diamond account in North America. The advertising agency is already planning a trade advertising and designing a brand identity and logo for the first diamond mine in Canada. The account's value has not been disclosed.
