Survival tactics
Article Abstract:
Many ethnic-Chinese family businesses across Asia have managed to survive the region's economic difficulties because they have been managed very prudently. Their owners have not borrowed heavily, have spent carefully and have focused on a core business. Care has also been taken to keep the business within the family. These businesses have shown a considerable ability to react quickly to changing conditions. However, ethnic-Chinese family businesses that have grown too rapidly have encountered difficulties. Countries with many ethnic-Chinese family businesses may find it less difficult to recover from Asia's economic crisis.
