TEC GOES FOR RETAIL POWER DISTRIBUTION
Article Abstract:
Tata Electric Companies (TEC) proposes to enter into the retail power distribution sector. TEC proposes to offer power to smaller customers like office and apartments also apart from its large customers. It is aiming at a retail market size of 100 mega watts (mw) over the next two years. Currently, it produces 1,800 mw of power which it offers to the Bombay Suburban Electricity Supply Ltd (BSES) and Bombay Electric Supply & Transport Undertaking (BEST). TEC has also offered to supply better quality and cheaper power to its larger clients even if their needs are lower than one mega watt. (ag)

FINOLEX PARTS WAYS WITH ISRAELI PARTNER

Finolex Cables Ltd (FCL) of Pune, a part of the Finolex group, has parted ways with Paltough-Palram (PP) of Israel in its joint venture, Finoram Sheets Ltd (FSL). FCL will acquire the Israeli company's 40 percent stake in FSL for Rs2.9 crore. It will buy 53.50 lakh shares at Rs5.40 per share. FCL had invested Rs8.50 crore while PP had invested Rs5.35 crore in FSL's equity of Rs13.85 crore. FSL is an unlisted company which manufactures PVC sheets. (khr)

IEL PLANNED AS INDEPENDENT CAPTIVE POWER PLANT UNIT
Article Abstract:
Ispat Energy Ltd (IEL) was de-merged from Ispat Industries Ltd (IIL) in 1997. IEL has been set up as an independent captive power plant, which will sell power to IIL and other group companies. The project cost is estimated at Rs1600 crore. IEL has sought funds from financial institutions (FIs) of Rs1120 crore. IIL will infuse Rs125 crore towards IEL's equity of Rs480 crore and its promoters, the Mittals, will contribute the rest. (rk)
