CECRI DRAWS UP BIG PLAN FOR LAB UPDATE
Article Abstract:
Central Electrochemical Research Institute (CECRI) has chalked out a master plan for upgrading its infrastructure on the eve of its golden jubilee year. CECRI aims to earn a revenue of Rs3 crore during 1998-99 from industrial consultancy and research work for various industries. It had earned a revenue of Rs2.30 crore in 1997-98 for its research and consultancy work. It has received a $40,000 contract for licencing its technology on cement polymer coatings to a company in Sharjah. (gs)

MALAYSIAN CO HOLDS MAJORITY STAKE IN USHA MARTIN

Telekom Malaysia Berhad (TMB) of Malaysia has become the major shareholder in Usha Martin Telekom Ltd (UMTL) of Calcutta with 55 percent stake after it was restructured. The Jhawars of UMTL will hold 25 percent, Sumitomo of Japan 7 percent and Asian Infrastructure Fund (AIF) of Hong Kong 13 percent stake in UMTL. The equity of UMTL has increased from Rs39.78 crore to Rs53.60 crore. The Jhawars control the management of UMTL. (nr)
