TISCO's CR MILL PROJECT COST REVISED UPWARDS BY Rs400 CR
Article Abstract:
The project cost of the 1.2 million tonnes cold rolling mill (CRM) of Tata Iron & Steel Company (Tisco) has been revised upwards by about Rs400 crore to Rs2257 crore. The CRM, which is coming up at Jamshedpur, will increase Tisco's finished steel capacity to over 3.2 million tonnes from the 2.7 million tonnes levels at present. Tisco plans to mobilise Rs450 crore for the project through external commercial borrowings and another Rs400 crore from domestic financial institutions. It has got a term loan of Rs600 crore from the steel development fund for the project. Tisco will bring in Rs800 crore for the CRM project from internal accruals. (khr)

NORSK HYDRO SHELVES PVC RESIN PROJECT

Norsk Hydro of Norway has abandoned plans to set up a greenfield PVC resin project near Chennai. It had planned the 1.5 lakh tonnes capacity plant, estimated at Rs400-500 crore, in a joint venture with the Tamil Nadu Industrial Development Corporation. Norsk has expressed its unwillingness to go ahead with the project due to the recession in the South East Asian region and the global downtrend in the petrochemical sector. (khr)
