Teaming up for a chemical experiment

Cinven and Investcorp have purchased the speciality chemicals division of AstraZeneca for $2.1 billion. This division is active in 14 countries, with 20 manufacturing operations and almost 4,700 employees. Some one-third of its revenues come from the US, with Europe representing 25% of revenues and Asia around 15%. The existing management team is being retained, apart from David Nicholson being brought in from another part of the company to replace the existing finance director.

Structuring investments
Article Abstract:
Corporate investors are responding to strong growth in the economy by increasing the size of their investments rather than looking for other investment openings in the marketplace. Fund managers are often too busy managing an extensive investment portfolio to take advantage of new investment opportunities often available in smaller businesses. Aspects of investment portfolio management are discussed.
