Deutsche Telekom has opened a share information office in preparation for the planned IPO in November. The success of the offer could rest on whether there is a positive response from the equity-averse German public. Telekom has recently introduced an unpopular new tariff regime, and computer error resulted in overcharging of a total of 13 million deutschemarks.

Several privatization plans are underway in Germany. The Green and Social Democratic parties are in charge of the federal government and new privatization plans are expected to develop. A secondary sale of Deutsche Telecom and the privatization of Postbank are expected after the completion of the sale of the Tank and Rast motorways services group in Oct 1998.

Dutch government set to divest control of KPN
Article Abstract:
Dutch postal and telecoms concern Koninklijke PTT Nederland (KPN) is to have a second tranche of shares sold off at the end of 1995 by the Dutch government. The finance ministry currently holds 70% of KPN, and this will then be reduced by 20.1-36.7%. The offer will involve 91.2-168.2 million shares, and will raise $3.25-6 billion.
