Telephonica Data joining Ariba in e-commerce
Article Abstract:
Telephonica Data SA said that will team up with Ariba Inc. to capitalize on rapid growth in business to business electronic commerce in Spain and Latin America. The partners plan to develop online procurement systems for large corporations. Under the terms of the joint venture, scheduled to start in the second quarter, Telephonica Data will invest $40 million in new equipment, software and support services. Ariba will contribute its ORMS and ORMS software packages, and its Airba Network system.

Spain to cut phone rates by year end
Article Abstract:
The Spanish cabinet voted to allow state-owned Telefonica SA to cut local, long-distance and cellular telephone rates in order to curb inflation. The changes are expected to reduce inflation by one-tenth of a percentage point. Inflation in Spain has risen to 2.5%, with food, energy and services prices up as much as 3.6% for the year.
