Thai air fares may zoom
Article Abstract:
Transportation officials in Thailand are considering the increase of air transportation fees, in an attempt to protect baht-denominated revenues from the regional currency crisis. The transport department further moved to reduce the waiting time for price increases to one day which was previously set at 45 days. Airline operators expressed approval to the new rule, as it may increase their profitability and attract additional foreign clients. However, consumers criticized the new policy, claiming that it will undermine their spending capacity.
