Anwar Ibrahim, former deputy prime minister of Malaysia has been acquitted of sodomy charges and is hoping that a similar judgment awaits him in the corruption conviction. Malaysians are speculating on which political party Anwar would join on his release. The political options available to Anwar for relaunching himself in public life are discussed.

It is a known fact that Philippines' budget deficit always stems from its inability to collect on all the taxes it has imposed. So the government's proposal to tax the text messages that could bring in approximately 14 billion pesos ($250 million) a year, and the raised opposition for the same are analyzed.
