Lacrem SA, which operates and sells its ice cream and bakery products under the Farggi brand, has secured a profit increase by 11.1% to Ptas2.3 billion in 1997 with about 35% of its sales from its ice cream parlor sales. Farggi outlets has secured the third largest in the desserts sector of the fast food market in Spain with a total of 34 outlets in 1997. The company plans to further expand its Farggi stores across Spain through signed agreements with Pizza Hut that agreed to serve the Farggi brand in its outlets.

Saiwa SpA, a Genova, Italy-based producer of biscuits, has posted a 52.3% profit increase from 1992 to L370 million in 1996. The firm is ranked the third largest biscuit firm in Italy in the market for sweet and savoury biscuits market with market volume share of sales at 2.7% in 1997. The strong presence was boosted by the 13% share obtained by its Premium brand. The firm also sells other biscuit products under the brand of Oro Saiwa, Mini Oro Saiwa, Wafer Saiwa, Urra, Ritz, Cipster and Planters.

Jamont NV of Brussels, Belgium, has secured a strong market position within the disposable paper products market in Benelux region with sales of $1,693 million in 1996, up by 2.3% from 1995. The firm's market share gains and volume share increae, however, was countered by the decline of average prices by 3%. The 14.5% sales increase in 1995 was attributed to price increases to shoulder the raw material cost increases in the market. Jamont's branded products are Lotus, Moltonel, Celtona and Vania.
