The amazing portable sarariman
Article Abstract:
Goodwill is a new human resources specialist in Japan, which has seen its stock price rise. The company's rise reflects changes in the Japanese labor market, which have meant that full-time employment is falling, and part-time and temporary employment are increasing. Outsourcing is also becoming more common, and a further wave of restructuring and job shedding is likely. Younger people are increasingly seeking to specialize, and are more prepared to move to other companies. Smaller firms are likely to have better access to labor as a result of these changes.

The pygmy problem
Article Abstract:
Liam Mckenna is a Scottish entrepreneur who has set up a company that refurbishes electronic equipment such as computers. The company initially grew rapidly, but then underwent two years of difficulties. The post of chief executive and chairman have been reliquished by McKenna, who recognizes that his strengths are in marketing. Finding talented managers was a problem in Scotland. The company should benefit from a European Union directive on recycling electronic goods.
