The baht spills over: South-East Asia

Thailand's currency, the baht, was nearly devalued in May 1997, and would have been except for a move on the part of the country's central bank. Stock markets in neighboring countries reacted to the situation, which is serious. At stake is investor confidence in the East Asian economy.
