American economic indicators and consumer confidence are still down despite the fact the stock market had a major rally after the Federal Reserve lowered the discount rate to 3.5% on Dec 20th. Share prices will eventually have to jibe with the other economic indicators.

Thank goodness it's slow
Article Abstract:
Even though the US economic recovery is sluggish at best, the Federal Reserve should not lower interest rates again as Pres Bush has called on them to do. A slow, steady recovery would have better long term implications than a rapid one that could collapse.

Article Abstract:
The real problem with the US economy is the lack of confidence on the part of government officials and consumers. The worse thing for the economy is this fear, because it reduces spending and creates protectionist legislation.
