The May 10, 2004 President elections in Philippines can pit seasoned campaigner President Arroyo against movie star Fernando Poe Jr. who is generally perceived as incorruptible thanks to the tough guy movie image. Many believe the contest is tough as poor less-educated voters may be enamored by Poe's charisma while the elite supports the President but respect for educational credentials is expected to win the day.
