The government takes it seriously
Article Abstract:

Another 42 bil Kc will be spent on the development of prospective technology in the sector and about 15 bil Kc on investments in the removal of old environmental burdens and damages by 2010. More than 6 bil Kc should be invested in the solution of the working and social consequences of a 50% decrease in the number of employees and another 4 bil Kc in the setting up of new jobs and re-qualification by 2010. The metallurgy firms Vitkovice (Ostrava, Czech Republic), Nova hut (Ostrava, Czech Republic) and Trinecke zelezarny (Trinec, Czech Republic) ensure 90% of Czech steel production. Vitkovice (Ostrava, Czech Republic), metallurgy firm, has debts of about 5.5 bil Kc. More than a half of the firm's property is pawned at banks. The firm is endangered by total collapse.
