The '419' scams of the 1980s, named for a section of Nigerian penal code, have made a comeback. Letters invite foreign companies to participate in a multi-million-dollar swindle against the Nigerian Central Bank or national oil company. Nigerian authorities are unsympathetic to the 'victims.'
