The GOP failed to push through their plan to dismantle many environmental regulations in 1995, since some of their own constituents voted against the platform. They still have a chance in the 1996 elections if they can show they care while relieving the burden of land and business owners.

Hong Kong has a vibrant culture that is very much its own, contrary to what China would like to have the world believe. It is shaped much by the refugee and outsider identity the territory has had through much of its history, and it revels in its underground status.
