The impact of corporate outsourcing on company value
Article Abstract:
A US study of managers in firms which had used outsourcing found 75% felt the arrangements had not performed as well as they had expected. Some companies may find outsourcing a number of functions leaves them out of touch with their own markets. Corporate companies may use outsourcing arrangements to cut their costs, increase productivity and to give a better service to customers. A study of 129 firms found the average cost reduction due to outsourcing was 15%. Companies may find their value rises as outsourcing allows them to be more competitive.

Plans and planning policy for Belfast: a review article
Article Abstract:
The planning system in Northern Ireland appears to have operated with some degree of success despite being highly centralised under the control of the Dept of the Environment for Northern Ireland. The Matthew Plan of 1964 has limited the growth of Belfast by drawing a physical stop-line along the hillsides around the city, while there have been many positive schemes to encourage development in rural areas. The planning system in Northern Ireland can however be criticised for its lack of local accountability.
