The media man in the Cambodian sun
Article Abstract:
Eric Falt has had frequent brushes with the press during his stint as the spokesman for the UN Transitional Authority in Cambodia (UNTAC), and some reporters claim discrimination after stories critical of the organization. Falt responds that he has worked to persuade UNTAC officials to provide more figures and is hurt by accusations of hiding information. Falt is a former TV journalist and information attache with the French UN delegation. When UNTAC leaves Cambodia in Aug 1993, he may stay with the UN or become a journalist.

War of words; power-sharing issues plague fragile coalition
Article Abstract:
Cambodia's fragile coalition government is threatening to collapse as competing political leaders have voiced their differences in public. Hun Sen is viewed as controlling Cambodia's military power and stated that military force will meet any attempt to dissolve the government.

Alphabet soup, Cambodian style
Article Abstract:
The UN's arrival in restless, acronym-bedeviled Cambodia gives rise to a whole new slew of abbreviations and impenetrable terms. The topics touched on include SOC, CPP, Funcinpec, Anki, CPAF, KR (also known as DK), NADK, KP (for KPNLF), BLDP, Untack, Civpol, Unmos and Unnos, Bulgar Batt (and Franch Batt and Indo Batt), and of course, Snooky, the press nickname for Prince Norodom Sihanouk.
