The mighty pound
Article Abstract:
Pound sterling has risen in value in the late 1990s, after a long period of dropping in value, and it is likely to fall, though it is unclear by how much. The pound may have risen in relation to the euro because the euro is weak, though it may also be linked to stronger economic growth in Britain tahn forecast. The pound has been relatively stable in relation to the US dollar. Exports have not been unduly affected, and instability can create more problems for British exporters than a high value for the pound.

Hard pounding
Article Abstract:
The high value of pound sterling has affected British farmers and manufacturers, though export volumes are rising, as is economic growth, and unemployment is dropping. There are problems in seeking to control the value o fthe pound, and a lower value for pound sterling will not necessarily be good for the economy.
