The new handy woman
Article Abstract:
Do-it-yourself retailers are changing their focus to include women. Revy Home and Garden Warehouse has launched a seminar titled 'Summer Safety in the Home for Women' which was attended by 40 women. The success of the affair prompts the company to offer similar programs throughout its four Ontario locations in 2001. Revy Home Centres director of marketing and communications Howard Kitchen believes that Revy's customer base, comprised of more than 50% women, is a major factor in targeting this group.

Not so easy being green at Heinz Canada
Article Abstract:
HJ Heinz Co of Canada Ltd announced that the green-colored ketchup introduced by HJ Heinz Co of Pittsburgh, PA, will not be sold in Canada. While research in Canada supports US findings that the green ketchup in the EZ Squirt plastic bottles will be attractive to children, adults are not likely to favor a ketchup that looks like relish. HJ Heinz Co of Canada executive Susan Yorke said colored ketchup would polarize consumers and that Canadians do not accept many artificially-colored products.

CTV's Sopranos takes on Olympics
Article Abstract:
CTV Television Network Ltd will air 13 original episodes of the HBO hit 'Sopranos' starting in Sep 2000. The counterprogramming strategy is designed so as not to lose viewership numbers to CBC, which will broadcast the Olympics during the month. According to some ad agencies, the move will be a great opportunity for advertisers who have not been able to obtain a commercial air time for the Olympic broadcast.
