The rich shall inherit the earth
Article Abstract:
UK Prime Minister John Major believes that both inheritance tax and capital-gains tax discourage entrepreneurship and therefore limit economic growth. For this reason, he would like to abolish these taxes. Abolishing capital-gains tax would have significant repercussions. This tax produces little revenue directly, but it discourages people from attempting to avoid income tax by reclassifying income as capital gains. If it were abolished, income tax revenues could decline dramatically.
