Reports on AIDS drug research at the Ninth Annual AIDS Conference were not promising. Trials with AZT have shown no addition benefits for those who are HIV-positive without having the full-blown virus. Research with other drugs, such as ddC and Alpha show similar negative results.

Article Abstract:
A research project administered jointly by the UK's Medical Research Council and France's INSERM suggest that AZT does not improve the life expectancy of asymptomatic HIV-positive individuals. However, such people do appear to have higher CD4 levels as a result of AZT therapy.
