The trouble with Ken
Article Abstract:
Ken Livingstone is a candidate to be mayor of London, England, and the Labor party has to decide whether to select him as candidate. He was leader of the Greater London Council during the 1980s, and could become the Labor party candidate, though his is opposed by prime minister, Tony Blair, leader of the Labor party. Blair's efforts to prevent him being a candidate could be counter productive, and devolution is meant to involve ceding power. Livingstone has some sensible ideas, but he retains socialist principles, and is concerned about world trade, and very large salaries. Socialism may not be appropriate for a mayor of London, which is a key financial center.

Red Ken rides again
Article Abstract:
Ken Livingstone will stand as mayoral candidate for London, England, and will leave the Labor party, which used a selection process that chose Frank Dobson as its official candidate. Opinion polls give Livingstone a far stronger lead than Dobson, while Dobson claims that Livingstone is a traitor. Prime minister, Tony Blair, could seek to vilify Livingstone, but this would give him more publicity, and could be counterproductive. Blair has carried out a vendetta against Livingstone which has already been damaging to Blair.

Nobbling Ken
Article Abstract:
The United Kingdom Labor Party has to decide on a candidate to seek to become mayor of London, England. Prime minister, Tony Blair, opposes Ken Livingstone as a candidate, those he is a popular choice among Londoners. Health secretary, Frank Dobson, has been persuaded by Blair to stand, but he will not necessarily get the backing of the Labor Party. There are also criticisms that Blair seek to exercise too much control, and that he has sought to fix elections.
