Tomorrow's Internet
Article Abstract:
Microsoft benefited from the growth of the market for PCs, but the company itself could be threatened by the development of the Internet, which may erode the chances of single companies achieving monopoly power. New standards allowing mobile phones, computers and other devices to communicate could be developed, and new Internet protocols are being developed. New technology is likely both to make the Internet more reliable and popular, and to limit the power that a single company can build up.
