The largest sector of the market is electronic games, with a 54% share in 1994, valued at 1.2 billion pounds sterling. The dolls and accessories market was valued at 115 million pounds in 1994, up 15% from 1991. The U.K. toys and games market is very fragmented and ten companies account for 60% of the value market. The major players in the electronic games market are Sega and Nintendo. Other leading makers of toys and games include Waddingtons, Hasbro and Bluebird Toys. The U.K. toys and games market is forecast to reach around 4 billion pounds sterling by 1999.

Toys and gamed in the Netherlands
Article Abstract:
The toy industry in the Netherlands is small, with total sales reaching 200 million Dutch guilders. Around 75% of Dutch production is exported. Dutch toy and game imports amounted to 563 million Dutch guilders in 1994, with imports mainly from China and the Far East. Specialist toy shops account for some 60% of all sales. There are only 10 Dutch toymakers with more than 20 workers, plus several smaller producers, many specializing in wooden toys. The toy and games market is forecast to continue its slow growth.

Imports of toys and games account for 50% of the market and are worth Ptas46 billion. Exports continue rising and are worth Ptas41 billion. It is expected that the trend towards consolidation in the market will continue, with sales likely to improve in the short-term.
