Turning bookworms into geeks
Article Abstract:
The Japanese tend to read books and periodicals in trains since there is insufficient room for newspapers. Non-fiction is popular among the Japanese, who like to read about facts, and this includes 'How to' books as well as guides on different locations. Media groups in Japan are preparing CD-ROMs which cater for this enthusiasm for facts. CD-ROM offerings include 'Ancient Rome - The Rise and Fall of The Millennium', from Fujitsu/TV Tokyo. The product uses computer graphics well, but is only available in Japanese.
