UK: COLLEGIATE CASE CHARGES RISE
Article Abstract:
A case being driven by Collegiate Management Services which aims to overturn the PIA's guidance on compensation for clients who were mis-sold pensions, has seen original cost estimates of GBu 80,000 rise to almost GBu 250,000, following uncontrollable legal spending on behalf of pensions holders, which Collegiate is obliged to meet. Collegiate is to investigate the bills being submitted, which in two months exceeded GBu 110,000. The company is arguing that windfalls received by clients in question should be taken into account when calculating compensation.
