Ukraine presents a membership quandray for the European Union
Article Abstract:
Even as Ukraine moves towards greater democratization, the European Union remains hesitant to accept it as a member. The so-called "orange revolution" taking place in Ukraine centers on the contested election of Prime Minister Viktor Yanukovych. The Ukrainian Supreme Court has called for a re-vote and many Ukrainians are hopeful that Yanukovych's opponent, the pro-democratic candidate Viktor Yuschenko, will be elected in his place.

Commission will back inviting Turkey into EU
Article Abstract:
The European Union is to vote in December to invite Turkey into its membership. The European Commission is setting certain unusual conditions to Turkey's admission. Many in Europe are uneasy about admitting a relatively poor and Muslim nation, while the Turks have their own doubts.
