Party leader Martin Lee is still free to criticize China
Article Abstract:
Martin Lee, leader of Hong Kong's Democratic Party and the city's most prestigious China critic, remains a free man even a year after Hong Kong's handover to China in July 1998. This shows that little has changed in the city since the turnover. Lee criticizes Hong Kong Chief Executive Tung Chee Hwa for mismanaging the economic crisis. He is also certain that China's hands-off policy toward the city will not last.
