Unipetrol applies for Paramo

Unipetrol (Kralupy nad Vltavou, Czech Republic), holding petrochemical company, has applied for a stake in the petrochemical firm Paramo (Pardubice, Czech Republic) within a tender. According to Unipetrol, a stake in Paramo is an interesting acquisition opportunity that represents a direct connection to Unipetrol's business and brings many synergy effects. According to audited consolidated results, the group Unipetrol generated a profit of 2.593 bil Kc in 1999. Its 1999 proceeds totalled roughly 51.8 bil Kc and were similar as in 1998. Unipetrol's main companies are Chemopetrol (Czech Republic), Kaucuk (Czech Republic), Ceska rafinerska (Czech Republic) and Benzina AS (Czech Republic).

Unipetrol to own Paramo

Unipetrol (Kralupy nad Vltavou, Czech Republic), holding petrochemical company, will acquire a 70.8% stake in Paramo (Pardubice, Czech Republic) in 2000. The company will pay about CEK 141.4 mil for the acquisition. By 2005 it will have to invest CEK 750 mil in Paramo, which processes petroleum. Unipetrol received the definitive approval for the acquisition from the Czech government in Nov 2000. The defeated bidder, Norex Petroleum (NP) (Canada), intends to protest against the decision. According to NP, by acquiring Paramo and Aliachem (Czech Republic) Unipetrol has become a monopoly lubricating oil producer in the Czech Republic.

Unipetrol (Kralupy nad Vltavou, Czech Republic), petrochemical concern, received definitive agreement from the Czech government in Dec 2000 with the purchase of 70.8% of shares in Paramo (Czech Republic). Unipetrol will pay roughly CEK 141.4 mil for the state stake and will have to invest CEK 750 mil in Paramo by 2005. The defeated rival, Norex Petroleum (Canada), intends to protest against the government's decision.
