VEPZ SETS Rs100 Cr AS EXPORT TARGET
Article Abstract:
The Visakhapatnam Export Processing Zone (VEPZ) has set an export target of Rs100 crore for 1998-99. Exports have not yet commenced from the zone though it was completed in 1995-96 itself. This is due to units not being set up in the zone. But in 1998-99, exports are expected to start as three units - an aluminium alloy wheels unit, a diamond processing unit and packing material manufacturing unit - have started commercial operations. Recently, VEPZ got the approval of the central government for second phase development at a cost of Rs7.5 crore on 100 acres of land. Around 70 new units are expected to come up in the second phase. The first phase covers 163 acres with an investment of Rs16 crore. (gsh)

With this the Airlines service in India are now able to save over Rs100 crore in insurance premium. Prior to this, Airlines were made to pay heavy premium on insurance while purchasing aircraft due to high incidents of air crashes. But as most of international and domestic airlines agreeing to install airborne collision avoidance systems, the risks of accidents have come down and hence insurance premium has decreased.
