Vengence is Mahathir's
Article Abstract:
Mahathir Mohamad has started a fifth term as prime minister of Malaysia, and has had opposition leaders arrested. He does not care much for democracy apart from the necessary elections. Malaysia has enjoyed prosperity and an end to race riots. Malays are moving away from Mahathir, and are seeking greater freedom. More open societies are developing in neighboring countries, and Malaysia appears out of step. There is concern that change will only come to the United Malays National Organization when Mahathir leaves.
