Vere Bird
Article Abstract:
Vere Bird was prime minister of Antigua from that country's independence in 1981. His Antigua Labor Party has since been victorious in every general election held in Antigua. Antigua has a high standard of living and has developed tourism and financial services industries. Critics argue that Antigua is a center for money laundering, and measures taken by the US to control the problem could affect the Antiguan economy. This type of criticism upset Vere Bird.
