Article Abstract:
Export growth offers a positive note in an otherwise gloomy economic outlook for Thailand, but it may have little effect on the stockmarket. Many of the companies which will increase their exports due to the baht devaluation are not listed on the stock exchange, although investor demand could persuade them to list. Many of the listed companies are connected with finance or property and do not have exposure to the export market, but some big companies producing materials, including steel and pulp, have performed well at times of high exports.

Article Abstract:
The appearance of Asian technology trusts reflects the increased weight of the sector in Asian economies in terms of exports and stock market capitalization. Computer motherboard production and other very cyclical sectors of the electronics industry tend to be avoided by these funds. Jardine Fleming's Jonathan Boyer emphasises the need to be selective, and sees the main focus as PC-related suppliers. Rothschild Asset Management's Juwan Lee sees a strong performance from the printed-circuit-board industry.
