HMV North America is the first Canadian retailer to offer a branded free Internet service to its clients. The Toronto, Ontario-based company collaborated with Cybersurf Corp, a marketer of communications solution in Calgary, Alberta, to provide services to HMV's several thousand Canadian customers. HMV's branded ISP service was inspired by Kmart Corp's initiative called 'Bluelight.com,' which also provided Internet access through Yahoo!

Sprint Canada

Sprint Canada has launched a consumer Intenet portal tailored for French- speaking customers of its residential Internet service, called The Most Online. The portal, at www.sprint.ca/maxi, links to French-language content on the Internet and includes a search engine enabling zfrench- speaking surfers to search the Web using French keywords. The search results are returned in French.
