Where's plan B?
Article Abstract:
The annual meeting of leaders of Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (Apec) countries cast aside most of their plans for discussions at the Nov 1997 summit and focused on the Asian financial crisis. They could come up with no new plans for management of a crisis such as that affecting Southeast Asia in 1997, but they supported the central role of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), and endorsed a plan for countries to provide additional funding for IMF crisis assistance. The leaders stated their optimism for the long-term future of Southeast Asia.

New Gold Mountain
Article Abstract:
It is becoming increasingly common for young Asia-Americans to seek career opportunities in Asia. Many are finding attractive jobs in Asia, despite the region's economic problems. However, potential employers are becoming increasingly demanding, and are seeking recruits with good language skills and work experience. The decline in consumer demand in Southeast Asia is prompting companies in China, Taiwan and Hong Kong to seek people to assist them with their restructuring work.
