Productivity growth and inflation have been fluctuating under Pres Clinton, but a moderate growth with low inflation may be emerging. A jobs stimulus and banking liquidity will not solve the problems of mismatched labor skills or banks' small-business loan anxiety.

Bill Clinton ran on a platform of government activism to revive the struggling US economy, but suddenly it appears he will inherit an economy that is well on the road to recovery. He should abandon his stimulus package and concentrate more on the deficit.

Article Abstract:
The US economy was unable to sustain the GDP growth it showed in the fourth quarter of 1992 when it roared out of recession, but it is still growing. There is concern though that the recovery has had little effect on the employment rate thus far.
