Will it end in tiers?
Article Abstract:
The UK Institute of Directors (IoD) believes that it is vital to improve the prospects for UK companies as the international business environment becomes increasingly competitive. Any changes to regulations on corporate governance must be undertaken with this in mind. The good reputation of directors is likely to be re-established as they improve corporate behaviour within the boardroom, rather than through placing more regulatory burdens on companies. The IoD believes that there should be less regulation and prescription, rather than more.

Directors - teach thyselves
Article Abstract:
Most directors of UK companies are not fully aware of their duties and liabilities and lack relevant training, according to a survey by the Industrial Society. This problem is beginning to be acknowledged by directors themselves, many of who now recognise the need for ongoing training. There is growing demand for director training, but most directors still seem reluctant to actually attending appropriate training courses.

Growing nearer to the Far East
Article Abstract:

There are some uniquely Japanese business practices which must be taken into consideration, but there are also a considerable number of similarities with the UK. It is important that UK companies establishing a presence in Japan select the most competent local contacts.
