Will it last? Turkey, Israel and the Arabs

Turkey signed a military accord with Israel, and feared condemnation from other Muslim countries. However, an Arab meeting in Egypt failed to produce any severe criticism of Turkey. The accord was initiated in part because of Turkey's uneasiness over its Syrian border.

On a road to nowhere

Peace talks between the Israel and Palestinians will go nowhere until they realize that their objective is the creation of an independent state for Palestinians. The US can help the peace talks continue despite Israel's bombing in south Lebanon.
