ZEN TAKES ON NEW AVATAR, OLD PRICE

Maruti Udyog Ltd (MUL) has introduced Zen VX on July 23, 1998. Zen VX is a revitalised version of Zen model car and costs Rs345,000 in Delhi. The product will have Rs24,000 worth extra features like a 120-watt PMPO Kenwood stereo, digital clock, full face detachable panel, a frontal grille and a moulded roof lining among others. Zen VX will be available in six colours in all the showrooms across India. MUL has discontinued the production of the old Zen model. (ag)

DEMAND RISING FOR HIGHER-POWERED CARS

The demand for cars with more power can clearly be seen from the sales of the recently launched Honda City and its different variants. Honda Siel Cars India, a joint venture between Honda Motor Co and the Shriram group, has introduced the 1.3, 1.5 and automatic transmission versions of the Honda City. Sales of the 1.5 litre variant has been far greater than that of the 1.3 version. (khr)

FORD INDIA LAUNCHES ESCORT SPORT-E

Ford India Ltd, a subsidiary of Ford Motor Company of the US, is launching a new petrol model called Ford Escort Sport-E. It will be launched in a limited edition, with only 100 cars at 22 dealers across India at a special price. It will be fitted with a 16 valve double overhead camshaft Zetec engine and will have alloy wheels, rear spoiler and front fog lamps. (khr)
