Canada, like United States, confronts tight defense funding

Canada confronted tight defense funding after facing more than a decade of cutting military spending and suffering from declining recruitment and aging equipment. Canada's Finance Minister Ralph Goodale proclaimed that Budget 2005 introduces the largest increase in defense spending in 20 years, worth more than C$12.8 billion in cash terms over five years.
