Central Fidelity Banks Inc posted a significant 21.9% gain for the Sep 1992 quarter despite the weak Virginia economy. The gains were partly due to hefty securities profits. Standard and Poor's gave a Triple-B rating to the company's subordinated debts. The rating service also recognized the corporate competence of the firm. Moody's Investor Service was also optimistic about the stock. Central Fidelity has a $1.24 dividend on the 25 million shares.
