Dual diagnosis: a review of etiological theories
Article Abstract:
Four etiological models on the high prevalence of substance use disorders (SUD) in patients with severe mental illness (SMI) are analyzed. These are common factor, secondary substance abuse disorder, secondary psychiatric disorder and bidirectional models. Common factor models attribute the high rates of comorbidity to shared vulnerabilities to SUD and SMI. Secondary substance models claim that SMI increases' vulnerability to SUD. Secondary psychiatric models posit that SUD leads to SMI while bidirectional models propose interactional effects between SUD and SMI.

Rational thinking
Article Abstract:
Designer Rido Busse's rational and methodical approach to design is followed at Busse Design Ulm, the company he established in Ulm, Germany, after graduating from the highly influential Ulm College of Design in 1959. Busse Design Ulm is the only German design company with capacity for prototyping and low-volume production and numbers major German manufacturing companies amongst its clients. The company's work tends to involve capital goods and functional consumer products but Busse readily acknowledges that Busse Design Ulm has no particular speciality.
