Concentrated control, analyst following, and valuation: do analysts matter most when investors are protected least?
Article Abstract:
An investigation is conducted across 2,500 companies from 27 countries to discover the association among ownership system, analyst following, investor security, and valuation. It is found that corporate management is a crucial determinant of the analyst's inclination to cover firms, and that analysts are especially important for firms with concentrated control in countries, which provide insufficient investor protection.
