Danka Business Systems
Article Abstract:
Danka Business Systems faces financial problems which have been exacerbated since banks increased the interest rate that the company has to pay. The company has to pay for advisers to lenders, and commercial discipline is unlikely to be imposed until an agreement has been reached on how much the banks will be paid, and how they will be paid. Funds could be raised by selling assets, but world economic problems will hamper such efforts. There could also be problems arising from an agreement with Kodak, such as Kodak's right to end Danka's distribution monopoly should Danka not perform.

Danka Business Systems
Article Abstract:
Danka Business Systems saw a drop in its share price in Jun 1996 after reports of higher than expected costs. The company has acquired the copying machine distribution activities of Eastman Kodak and has had to takeon more staff in the US. This staff increase has pushed up costs s has changing the business structure. The way integration is carried out will affect the company's performance. The company's profit is forecast at 81 million pounds sterling excluding exceptionals, increasing to 134 million pounds with Eastman Kodak included.

Photocopier breakdown
Article Abstract:
Eurocopy is a distributor of photocopiers which faces competition from Danka and Alco, which are entering the European market from the US. This will push down prices, affecting Eurocopy's profit for the two or three years from 1998. Customers are also buying directly from manufacturers. The company is offering more flexible contracts to help counter competition. Eurocopy benefits from sound finances but will have to make acquisitions which will probably reduce its balance.
