Ilion distributes networking products and has performed poorly in terms of results, but it has a strong French business which is performing well, and is the largest part of the company. The United Kingdom operations have encountered problems but has changed strategy and is run using similar principles to the French business. This has led to a reduction in stock levels, and the benefits of the change in strategy are starting to become apparent. Talks are in progress with Landis, which has made a bid for the company that was initially rejected.

Network Technology (NT) had forecast a minimum profit of 3.3 million pounds sterling for the 12 months to Sep 1996 and is confident of having achieved this. The company may also pay a dividend. NT supplies large manufacturers of printing equipment and is also entering the market for Internet and network printing software and cabling products. The company raised 5 million pounds sterling net from a share flotation in Jul 1996. NT has doubled sales annually from 1993 and could achieve sales of 27 million pounds for 1996 to 1997.
