Group of 7's warning fails to support dollar

The Group of 7 industrial nations warned against excessive volatility and disorderly foreign exchange movements in its communique following the groups meeting. However, the dollar jumped nearly 1 percent against the euro in a reaction to the G-7 statement and further suggests that the weakening of the dollar would continue as long as the pace of the decline does not become too rapid.

Rate differentials keeping dollar strong

A glimpse at the trends in foreign exchange markets, and their effect on US dollar is presented. It is observed that the yield advantage of US dollar, when compared with euro and Japanese yen is keeping the dollar in strong position.
