Article Abstract:
The lawmakers of the U.S. think that the United States cannot afford a protracted war in Iraq, especially if another conflict arises while U.S. forces are already committed to Iraq, Afghanistan and other areas. The U.S. will have to rethink its defensive strategy in order to reduce the ongoing costs of war in Iraq, Afghanistan and other places.

Air Force QDR head urges cutting planes such as F-16s, not Raptors
Article Abstract:
The top Air Force Quadrennial Defense Review (QDR) head has insisted that cutting the aged F-16 fighter is much appropriate than cutting F/A-22 Raptor fighter aircraft, as it is too vital for the nation's future warfighting ability. The President George W. Bush's budget of 2006 has proposed to cut Raptors and many other aircraft carriers.
